Founded in 2005 by Wayne Beak and Tony Carroll, EMS is
celebrating its best year to date, despite the current
economic climate. Considering there are so many businesses
collapsing within the marine industry it would seem quite
extraordinary and, according to Wayne Beak, "this is primarily
due to a recipe of careful and strategic start--to--finish project
management and service."
This is Wayne Beak's twenty-fourth year in the marine industry on
the east coast of Australia, originally starting as an apprentice
electronics technician, whilst Tony Carroll, with more than ten years'
experience in marine electronics, following five years in marine
engineering / boat building, form an experienced partnership.
EMS was started in a modest office within the Gold City Marina and
within six months had to move into a larger premises, still within the
complex, ultimately expanding to its currently owned premises in the
prime street-front location of the Gold Coast City Marina.
EMS offers a wide array of technology and services ranging from
fish finders to full bridge integrated systems and designs, and
considers itself, according to Wayne Beak, a "one stop marine
electronics shop. As our slogan says -- I.T. ON THE SEA".
Along with sales and service EMS has now expanded into
distribution, both import and export, of equipment throughout the
By changing and adapting to the varying needs of its prime client
base, as well as capitalising on the weaker Australian dollar at the
time, EMS still continued to thrive and expand. And with
ever-increasing safety systems being implemented and dangers at sea
becoming more prevalent, they could offer their expertise in helping
our local marine law enforcement expand their fleet and our local
government expand their transport fleet.
The EMS team is proud to boast a line-up of successful past
project involvements that is sure to top any electronics firm in
Australia including government fleet builds through to the supply and
service of the largest superyachts to visit South East Queensland.
Through technical excellence, EMS is also proud to note that it is
listed as service agent for ALL major brands of marine electronics
available on today's market.
However, Beak says, "One of the biggest contributing factors to
our success has been our strong service base", noting that the
company has a minimum of five technical people in a total
complement of ten. Each of these ten staff also share Wayne and
Tony's enthusiasm, passion and desire to produce successful
results each and every time, and in a responsive way that would
normally not be possible from a company that needs decisions to
go through a board of directors and large company structures.
With core skill sets focused around the boatbuilding / superyacht /
game fishing and commercial marine industries, EMS expects it will
continue to go from strength to strength. In the long run that means
good things for those businesses that can prosper by utilising EMS
and their professional services.
