well as powering vessels, Brunswick is also the world's biggest

This is the strength that lies behind the Mercury, Mariner,
MerCruiser and Mercury Diesel brands. As a group, Marine Power
International is one of the world's leading marine engine producers.
Marine Power International, trading as Mercury Marine Australia,
has operated in this country for over 46 years and is currently a major
supplier to both government and commercial businesses, with
excellent supply relationships with the Australian Army, Water Police,
Marine Rescue, SES and the Australian Federal Police.
A major commitment to the future was the opening of Mercury's
new headquarters for the Australia, New Zealand and Pacific region a
year ago in Dandenong South. Purpose built and designed to further
improve efficiencies and customer support, the facility features
6,200m2 of warehouse space and is equipped with a high-tech,
electronic parts-checking system, ensuring a high volume stocking of
parts, instant inventory adjustment and prompt and efficient dispatch.
The headquarters also houses world-class training facilities.
Its workshop includes a machine shop, a welding area, and
an enclosed rebuild and tool room. Mercury's aim is a uniformly high
standard of quality, knowledge and skills nationwide among dealer
technicians. Mercury insists on continual and up to date training for
both its own staff and the dealer network -- 184 full line dealers, and
several others specialising purely in government and commercial
There are Mercury warehouse facilities in New South Wales,
Queensland, Western Australia and New Zealand's North Island,
currently employing over 90 people. Mercury's commitment to
training applies here too, with all staff continually trained in the latest
technology relevant to their fields. Mercury intends to remain at the
forefront of the marine industry.
100 per cent marine focussed, Mercury does not just believe it has
the world's best marine products -- it is also confident it has the best
dealer network to support, sell, and service those products.
Independent evidence of Mercury's excellence is that they are the only
outboard manufacturer to be ISO 9001:2000-certified.
The company has no intention of resting on these laurels. It aims to
cement its position as a global industry leader in providing the finest
marine propulsion systems and services, integrated electronics, and
parts and accessories.
In achieving these goals, Mercury Marine is committed to a
sustainability policy of manufacturing products in a manner that is
safe, environmentally responsible, protective of the earth's natural
resources and fostering improvements in the quality of life for all
This is not grandstanding. Mercury has already achieved four
consecutive years of meeting or exceeding its goal of reducing overall
energy consumption by 34 billion BTU annually. This equates to a
reduction of more than 13,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide, 60 tonnes of
sulphur dioxide and 29 tonnes of nitric oxide.
For many years, Mercury Marine has been in energy conservation,
recycling and environmental stewardship -- activities that are good for
business, communities, people and the planet
